Karen Elwood has served as Executive Director of the Professional Members Association (PMA) since 2018. In this role, she leads the organization’s daily operations and long-term strategy—overseeing advocacy, member programs, training initiatives, and partnerships that support professionals across the state. She works closely with PMA’s Board of Directors and staff to ensure the association remains responsive, forward-thinking, and deeply rooted in its mission.
With over 20 years of experience in association leadership, Karen is known for her collaborative leadership style, strategic thinking, and commitment to serving members. Before joining PMA, she held senior positions in both the public and nonprofit sectors, where she led coalition-building efforts, spearheaded advocacy initiatives, and designed impactful training programs for professionals and organizational leaders.
Karen holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and is a frequent speaker on leadership, policy, and association management. Her professional strengths include stakeholder engagement, organizational strategy, and guiding teams through growth and change.
She’s passionate about the role associations play in connecting people, advancing shared goals, and giving professionals a stronger voice. Under her leadership, PMA continues to grow as a trusted resource and advocate for its members statewide.
